The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens invites applications for the position of Paper Conservator. The successful candidate will join a team of eight book, paper, and paintings conservators who care for The Huntington's extraordinary and wide-ranging collections, from rare books, manuscripts, and archival materials to prints, drawings, photographs, and paintings. Working closely with preparators, registrars, technical services staff, and curators across the library and art divisions, the Paper Conservator will contribute to The Huntington's mission to preserve, interpret, and share its collections with a broad and diverse audience through conservation treatment, preventive care, and outreach.

The Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center is looking for a conscientious conservator to run its paintings conservation lab. As the leader of the painting’s conservation lab, the conservator will treat works from a broad range of public and private clients throughout the region. The conservator will examine paintings, prepare treatment proposals - including time and cost estimates - conserve artifacts and collections and maintain the Painting Conservation Laboratory at the Ford Center. The conservator will provide preservation expertise and outreach, participate in the Center’s educational activities, and collaborate with technicians, interns and volunteers on painting conservation projects. The Saint Louis Art Museum is seeking a Director of Conservation who will provide visionary leadership in safeguarding and preserving the Saint Louis Art Museum's renowned collection. This senior role sets strategic vision, administrative oversight, and expert guidance for all conservation initiatives, ensuring the highest ethical and professional standards in the care, treatment and technical analysis of works of art. The Director works collaboratively across departments, actively contributing to institutional initiatives, research projects, and fostering a culture of excellence in collections stewardship.

Overseeing every aspect of the Museum’s conservation program, the Director works collaboratively across departments to advance institutional priorities, research projects, and public engagement with the collection. The position plays a key role in programmatic, collecting, and scholarly initiatives, fostering a reputation for artistic excellence, scientific rigor, and innovative conservation practices.

The Director manages both the day-to-day and long-term operations of the conservation department, supervising professional conservators, support staff, fellows, and interns. The Newberry Library is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, fellowship awarded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, administered by the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation. The Fellowship will begin in early January 2026. Reporting to the Director of Conservation Services, the Conservation Fellow, performs treatment and rehousing of the Newberry’s collection materials and assists with exhibition related work.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have completed an MA degree from a recognized conservation program with a specialization in books and/or paper, and be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
