The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) in Philadelphia is seeking a Preservation Specialist for the Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY) program. The DHPSNY Preservation Specialist conducts preservation surveys, oversees condition surveys, and assists with archival and preservation planning. They also develop and present educational programs, and provide technical assistance to libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, and other organizations across New York State. Candidates must reside in New York State or the greater Philadelphia area. This position requires frequent travel within/to New York State. The Williamstown + Atlanta Art Conservation Centers (W+AACC) seeks a Conservation Lab Technician for our Atlanta lab. We welcome applicants regardless of their race, gender identification, sexual orientation, disability, or protected class. The start date for this opportunity is negotiable but the preference is for this position to begin in August 2026. The selected individual will support the conservators in a variety of duties relating to the preservation and conservation of works of art and cultural heritage. They will assist with preparation of conservation materials; art movement storage, and handling; care and maintenance of studio tools and equipment; and conservation treatment of objects under the supervision of the conservator. Reporting to the Chief of Curatorial Affairs, the Director of Conservation serves as a member of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT). This position provides overall leadership and management of the Conservation Department, including responsibility for departmental operations, planning, and strategic direction. The Director supervises a staff of three full-time conservators and technicians, as well as contract staff; manages the departmental budget; and oversees planning for technical equipment and facilities needs. The Director of Conservation is responsible for all aspects of conservation practice, including preventive care, examination, technical analysis, documentation, treatment, and research of works in the collection. The position also oversees environmental monitoring and assessment of gallery, storage, and exhibition conditions to support the long-term preservation of the collection. Expertise in paintings or objects conservation is preferred, and the Director is expected to undertake treatment projects as departmental priorities and workload permit. This position serves as the Museum's senior authority on conservation matters and represents the institution within the broader conservation, museum, and civic sectors.

The Denver Art Museum and Clyfford Still Museum are currently seeking a Mellon Fellow in Paintings Conservation. This is a two-year, full-time fellowship position hosted jointly by the Denver Art Museum and the Clyfford Still Museum in the conservation of paintings. The fellowship provides an opportunity to gain valuable treatment and research experience within two distinct institutions – an encyclopedic museum and a single-artist museum. The fellow will work full-time for one year at each institution. Working under the guidance of both DAM and CSM conservators, the fellow will complete projects and research relevant to each institution's goals and objectives. The fellow will focus on two aspects: treatment of the collection and drawing upon ongoing research to produce a publishable paper or conference presentation. The purpose of the role is to:
• Provide Fellow opportunities for the treatment of paintings in accordance with established procedures.
• Offer Fellow avenues for research and professional development in paintings conservation.
• Integrate Fellow in adopting and implementing museum-wide awareness/compliance of policies and procedures that affect and uphold the care and conservation of collections.
This position reports to the Director of Conservation and Senior Paintings Conservator, Conservation and Technical Studies Department, Denver Art Museum and the Chief Conservator at the Clyfford Still Museum. The Walters Art Museum has an opening for an Associate Book Conservator. The Associate Book Conservator is responsible for the preservation and conservation of the Walters' collections of manuscripts, rare books, and works of art on paper. They will join a team of conservation professionals with specialties in objects, paintings, preventive, and conservation science. They will work collaboratively across the Department of Conservation, Collections, and Technical Research to implement exhibitions, installations, rotations, programs, and other projects. The Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC) in Minneapolis, MN, seeks applicants for a paper conservator. This is a full-time position with occasional travel. MACC is a nonprofit center providing comprehensive services in Paintings, Objects, Paper, Textiles, and Preventive Conservation. The staff of fourteen is collaborative, collegial, and works innovatively with the curatorial and collection professionals at hundreds of non-profit collecting institutions including fine art museums, historical societies, universities, Native cultural centers, city governments, libraries, and archives. In addition, MACC works with private individuals and businesses. MACC laboratories are located within the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Applicants must have an advanced degree in art conservation with a specialization in paper conservation. A minimum of 3 years post graduate experience is preferred. The title, responsibilities, and salary will be commensurate with experience. The position provides an annual salary of $72,000 - $96,000 along with generous benefits including medical, dental, 403B contributions, vacation and sick time, AIC membership, and professional development. The position is open to US citizens and others with legal eligibility to work in the US.
