Have you ever considered becoming a parliamentarian? Many units at SUNY Buffalo State, and in professional societies, value the presence of a parliamentarian. Buffalo State will be hosting an opportunity for interested individuals to learn more about becoming parliamentarians.
Join us for "Tricks of the Trade: Being a Parliamentarian is Easier Than it Looks." Find out how using Robert’s Rules for Parliamentary Procedures ensures equity, clarity, and action.
The program will be held in two parts:
The first part of the day will be facilitated by Dr. Sharon Cramer, who has served as the Buffalo State College Senate Chair (2007-2010), Bylaws Committee Chair (1995-2007) and SUNY University Faculty Senate parliamentarian (2011-2019). During this session, attendees will be introduced to the fundamentals parliamentarians use for practice, procedure and process.
The second part of the session will be facilitated by Dr. Slade Gellin, who has served as the Buffalo State College Senate parliamentarian since 2005.
We will break into small groups and work through proper procedure and required practice relative to a variety of governance scenarios.
Registration is open to the Buffalo State campus community through April 18, 2019. After that date, other SUNY campuses will be invited to attend. Space is limited.
Advance registration is required.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
