Grace Johnson Garrity
Grace completed a pre-program internship at Athena Art Conservation, a private practice focusing on paintings conservation in New York City. While in New York, she earned a BA in art history from Columbia University where she participated in two archaeological digs at Hadrian’s Villa, a UNESCO World Heritage site near Rome. During one of the digs, she also completed an Advanced Training workshop in the Restoration of Frescos. In addition, Grace was a conservator at Center Art Studio in New York treating both paintings and objects. She completed a graduate summer internship at the Museum of Modern Art in 2022 and remained in New York to complete her third-year internship at the Whitney Museum of American Art in the paintings conservation lab. Grace is currently a paintings conservator at Modern Art Conservation, a leading professional studio located in Manhattan’s Chelsea gallery district in New York.
