Emily attended the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia where she earned a B.A. in historic preservation and participated in a field school at the Sherwood Forest Plantation in Stafford County. She completed several pre-program internships at Colonial Williamsburg in the paper, textile, wooden artifact, and archaeology conservation labs. Emily was also a conservation intern at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk in the paintings lab and will be presented a poster during the 2021 American Institute for Conservation virtual conference last spring. This summer, she is interning in photograph conservation at the National Gallery of Art before starting her third-year internship at the Library of Congress.
